Wow. The last mix on Stellar barely took anytime, yet I’ve gotten the most positive feedback on the mix. I’m almost satisfied too.

Funny but important fact – I barely spent anytime on it. I mean, compared to any other Melakartha mix which would take 4-5 hour sessions spanning multiple days, the time spent on this pales in comparison. Just enough to get the song talking for itself.

I didnt:

  • Go overboard with Effects
  • Get anal trying to find the right master bus compressor
  • Spend time on small details that didn’t matter

Look what we have here ladies and gentlemen, a new learning!

Hey guys! New Melakartha song is here.

So after trashing a couple song ideas, and spending hours trying to find that ‘liquid’ sound, ‘Stellar’ finally found its place. Mixed it in less than a day, so pardon rough edges if any. Pretty pleased with the mix overall.

Gear details: Schecter Blackjack with Stock pups, Blackstar HT-5, PodX3, EHX Soul Preacher, Toontrack Metal Foundry for drums.

Guitars were certainly placed up-front, as compared to earlier Melakartha mixes. Hit play below.

What started off as a melodic funk riff ended up as an experimetal song. Lot more layers, dense, and tight.

I had put this track up a couple days back and it rocketed to #8 on the metal charts in no time. It doesn’t mean much, technically speaking, but it certainly means a lot to me :) infidel
